The Churchmouse Bookshop, the by-donation bookshop in St. Mary’s Anglican Church in Oak Bay, will hold its third Summer Splash Book Festival on Saturday, July 15th!

The 2017 Book Festival will offer several thousand volumes spanning a wide range of topics and genres, including novels, mysteries, classic literature, history, biography, nature, home & garden, food & cooking, coffee-table books and children’s reading. You'll also find a Silent Auction of some outstandingly fine books.

This year we are excited also to feature local story-teller Anne Glover, musician Steph Khoury, and writer Anita Lahey. Plus, you'll enjoy plenty of refreshments—including hot and cold drinks, sweets and hot dogs and beef sliders fresh from the grill.

Timeline

  • 9 am: Doors open
  • [9 am Bonus: Consider joining our brief, regularly-scheduled Matins in the Garden service, in the cloistered Memorial Garden!]
  • 10 am: The grill fires up
  • 11 am: Entertainment begins

The Churchmouse Bookshop—which is also open every Saturday, 10am - 1pm—receives good-quality used books from the Greater Victoria community and gives them out to new owners in return for cash donations in support of St. Mary’s charity efforts and partners. Our largest charity partner is the Food Bank at St. John the Divine, on Quadra and Mason. This year some of the Churchmouse proceeds will be used to support some new literacy efforts in our community.

So, come and browse the books and enjoy the community. Bring your friends. Bring your children. Bring the dog. Admission is free. Donations welcome!
