About the Performers

A classical pianist with a wry wit, Sarah Hagen enjoys a rich and diverse concertising life as both soloist and humorist. Her extensive touring has taken her across Canada, to Europe and to the United States, including twice to New York City's Carnegie Hall. Awarded as Artist of the Year by both Ontario Contact and the BC Touring Council, her interpretations have been described as "outstandingly inventive" [University of Waterloo Gazette], "played flawlessly" [ReviewVancouver], "with great sensitivity and heart" [Vernon Morning Star]. Sarah has released four albums. Her most recent recording of Bach's Goldberg Variations was described by Whole Note magazine as "something to absolutely die for" and was the recipient of two Music PEI awards and two East Coast Music Award nominations. Highlights of recent seasons include solo sets at T0nder Festival in Denmark, Mariposa Folk Festival, and Vancouver  Island Music Fest

At the age of 17, Keith MacLeod started his career working with Dame Joan Sutherland and Sir Richard Bonynge. His love affair with opera spanned his entire 50 years playing in orchestras internationally. During the last 40 of those years, he was Principal Clarinet of the Victoria  Symphony. Keith has performed under some of the truly great conductors from around the world.

Now retired from orchestra life, Keith pursues his recital and chamber music passions with friends both near and far. He has been noted for his big resonant sound and sensitive phrasing by audiences and fellow professionals throughout his entire career. As a Yamaha artist, Keith has given master classes as far abroad as Spain and Louisiana. He continues to teach privately and occasionally gives master classes at the Victoria Conservatory and University of Victoria
