The Reverend Jacqueline Stober joins St Mary's as Interim Priest-in-Charge during the Rector's sabbatical, leading worship and serving on the pastoral care team.
Originally from Liverpool—yes, she has a Beatles story—Jacqueline studied life sciences at the University of Liverpool before teaching on both sides of the Atlantic. She was ordained in 2007 and served as a curate in the Liverpool area, before her first incumbency on a housing estate in Newcastle upon Tyne, and then as Area Dean and Vicar of three parishes in the South Dales of Derbyshire. Most recently she was Senior Associate Priest at Christ Church Cathedral until her retirement in 2024.
Jacqueline is no stranger to Victoria. She first worshipped at the Cathedral back in 1986, and the city has had a hold on her ever since. She is also a Benedictine novice, exploring that vocation alongside her ministry here.
Outside of parish life she enjoys winemaking, growing roses, and learning languages — currently French, Spanish, Mandarin, and Japanese. She shares her home with a springer spaniel named Jess and two opinionated cats, Lizzie and Mabel.
